Wow, I am so excited that you are an artist. Have you heard that we are doing things in the U.K. with art? . . . The intonation in your voice changes when you talk about East Asia. I can tell that you love it, and I believe God has something great for you there. People are going to try to scoop you up to do all sorts of things. It would be a mistake for me or anyone else to get you to come do something else. I could give you ten years’ of work [in the U.K.], but you would have missed what you were made for. You’re just waiting for the right boat.
Today my office took an extended time of prayer over me and the other interns who are about to graduate next week. I got antsy at the end because it ran half an hour over, and I had a Skype meeting scheduled with someone from our U.K. office. He was incredibly understanding, even cancelling another appointment for me. As I shared with him about my interest in serving God overseas through art and learned about some of his work and connections, he affirmed the intentions I set over my life. It’s funny because he answered, in part, the prayers two people had said over me this morning:
God, give Rachel confidence in the plans she is making. Help her to see how the time she is planning to spend in the Middle East this fall and the process she is going through will connect her to East Asia, where her heart is.
As I see opportunities and conversations align, I am encouraged.
